Just when I thought Mobile data is very expensive in Nigeria, which of course it is, maybe, lol, then I came across this country selling 1GB of data for ($75.20) N27,000. I’m like WTF!

According to a recent survey conducted by Cable.co.uk, Zimbabwe has the most expensive average internet data price in the world while India has the cheapest. For an average mobile data (1GB) in India, you’ll be paying at $0.26 (N93). Yes, you heard it.

So, if you’re thinking Nigeria mobile data is expensive, think again. The research conducted includes 6,331 data packs in 230 countries between October 23 and November 28, 2018, to compare the price of average internet data (1GB) in the world.

While India holds the first spot with the cheapest mobile data, Kyrgyzstan comes second with an average price of 1GB data at $0.27, Kazakhstan holds the third position with $0.49, and Ukraine takes the fourth place with $0.51.

Consumer telecoms analyst, Dan Howdle, at Cable.co.uk gave a commentary on the mobile data, said, “Many of the cheapest countries in which to buy mobile data fall roughly into one of two categories. Some have excellent mobile and fixed broadband infrastructure and so providers are able to offer large amounts of data, which brings down the price per gigabyte.”

I’m really surprised to discover that an African country actually has the costliest mobile data plan in the world. The cost of an average mobile data in Zimbabwe is 30 times greater than what we buy in Nigeria. According to an Infographic published by the Forbes, Nigeria average mobile data plan price is $2.22 (N800) which is almost correct. We all know if its not a special data offer, you can only get 1GB of data for N1000 in Nigeria, but this isn’t so bad, i guess, I mean it’s way better to way Zimbabwe offers.

So, what do you think about Nigeria’s mobile data offer compared to Zimbabwe and other countries? I think our internet service provider deserves some accolades😊.
