Samsung looks fired up and is ready to set the industry blazing. The South Korean company is now engaging their engineers more than ever before and it’s now a case of premium upon premium devices. Just last week, a foldable device that would receive Google’s support to adapt to different display sizes when folded and unfolded was revealed and now we have another one in the pipelines. Samsung is bringing back the flip but in another dimension. Samsung presents W2019.
Samsung’s W series is not an entirely new line of smartphone and the W2019 succeeds W2018.
More than the Samsung W2018 which was launched in December 2017, the newly launched W2019 houses a bigger battery. There’s also a bigger engine with the chips, better camera and up to 250GB of memory.
Although it has a crazy price tag to it, the device does carry some uniqueness. For sure, Samsung stands as the only mainstream brand that does a device like this. Hence, you won’t find this flip phone anywhere else. So, if it’s your thing to stand out from the crowd, go for the W2019.
What’s Inside Samsung W2019?
The Samsung W2019 flip phone features an external S-AMOLED display of 4.2 inches that carries support for Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The 4.2-inch internal S-AMOLED display of the phone also supports FHD resolution.
The phone when closed measures 132.9 x 63.4 x 17.3mm and it weighs 257 grams. The rear side of the phone is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass. Still on the body, a fingerprint scanner on the side while the 3.5mm audio jack port is missing. You will also find a dedicated button to access Bixby ‘Samsungs A.I assistant’.
Getting into the Samsung W2019, you will find an Oreo environment. Although it’s almost certain to get Android Pie 9.0 upgrade. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor is rocking the boat while a 6GB RAM will ensure that there is enough room to perform tasks.
Samsung W2019 is either a 128GB or 256GB storage phone depending on which you purchase. And like the mobile giant always does, there’s an option to expand storage with an SD. The W2019 is backed by 3,070mAh battery that offers 85 hours of standby time and around 280 hours of talk time.
On the back of the W2019 sits two horizontally arranged lenses. 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual camera module. The main sensor supports f/1.5 – f/2.4 intelligent variable aperture. The secondary sensor has a f/2.4 aperture. The dual rear cameras are equipped with features like OIS, 2x optical zoom, 4K video shooting at 60 fps and dual-tone LED flash. It also supports recording of Full HD slow-motion videos at 960 fps.
Samsung has priced the W2019’s 6+128GB model at 18999 Yuan ($2732!). Goes on pre-sale from Nov. 11. This clamshell device comes in Rose gold or Platinum color.
