Infinix Smart 2 Pro

You guys probably remember the Infinix Smart Smartphone that was launched quietly without any official announcement Last year. The device was launched in Nigeria with some pretty cool features. Infinix has decided to reincarnate the Smart series with the launch of the Infinix Smart 2 and Infinix Smart 2 Pro.

A few days ago, Infinity Mobility announced the released of the successor to the Infinix Smart, the Infinix Smart 2 and Smart Pro 2 in Nigeria and Pakistan. The company also stated the device will be available in other countries as time goes.

Infinix Smart 2 Key Specs

  • 5.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 1440 x 720 pixels
  • Android 8.1 Oreo with 2GB/3GB RAM
  • Quad-Core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6739
  • 16GB built-in storage
  • 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera
  • 3050mAh non-removable Li-Ion Battery

Design and Display

Both devices come with an 18:9 screen aspect ratio on a 5.5 HD + IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 1440 x 720 pixels in resolution and 282 pixels per inch density. The device sports a sleek metal design which gives you a premium smartphone look on sight. The design looks similar to that of the Infinix Hot 6.

Infinix Smart 2

Unlike the Hot 6, the Smart 2 camera and led flash is position vertically. The device fingerprint sensor is positioned in the centre, just below the camera, and the company’s logo beneath it.

Infinix also has the device name printed on the back near the bottom and also decided to have the speaker on the left side before the device name for the regular Smart 2. Smart 2 measures 8.4mm in thickness and it is available in different colours.

Hardware and Software

I guess we all know this device is a budget smartphone, however, it is still expected to deliver a great performance with the Quad-core processor MediaTek MT6739 chip at a speed of 1.5GHz backed by a PowerVR GE8100 graphics card which clocks at 570MHz.

Both devices will run on latest Oreo Android OS 8.1 with XOS 3.2 on top. Infinix Smart 2 launches with 1GB RAM +16GB internal storage while the Infinix Smart 2 Pro carries 2GB RAM on the same 16GB internal storage.

Camera

Smart 2 is loaded with a 13-Megapixel rear camera along with trending camera effects like Bokeh mode and many others, however the Smart 2 Pro house a dual-camera setup on the back, a 13-Megapixel + 2-Megapixel camera with fast foce feature.

Infinix Smart 2 Pro

On the front, both device holds an 8-Megapixel camera for a great selfie/wefie and a good camera for the Face ID security feature.

Network And Connectivity

The Smart 2 comes with 4G LTE connectivity for both Nano SIMs. A 3.5mm jack is present and a USB port. It also supports Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot and A-GPS.

Battery

While I was so much in love with the smart 2, Infinix Smart 2 Pro precisely, because it almost matched the Tecno Pouvoir 2, I was a bit disappointed with the 3050mAh battery and the regular Smart 2 also does not feature a fast-charging technology.

But really, you won’t complain of the battery when you discovered the 1GB RAM Smart 2 is actually an Android Go smartphone.

The Infinix Smart 2 operating system is tailored in a lighter version of the Oreo OS to offer a smoother and faster smartphone experience for users by offering newly reimagined apps such as Google Go, YouTube Go and Google Assistant for Android (Go edition) whilst managing data usage and enhancing efficiency. Your battery is safe… I guess.

Both devices are great and since they are budget smartphones like the Tecno Spark 2, I guess we shouldn’t have expected more of what we’ve already seen in the content.
